UVa student saved by napping
University of Virginia student, Chris Lemos, was napping on his couch after a workout when a .45-caliber bullet broke through his window, flew across his desk chair and went through his bedroom wall, before bouncing off a bed in an unoccupied room and landing on the floor of his apartment.
"The craziest thing about it was that honest to God I was planning to do my homework at my desk,” Lemos said. The officer who responded to the call said that he was lucky to be alive.
So if you're ever looking for a good reason to nap, remember this: napping saves lives!

"Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap."

Use naps to manage headaches.. or not?
I'm guilty. The best way for me to quickly get rid of a headache is to take a small nap. However, a new study links mid-day napping (to relieve tension pressure) to unwanted insomnia effects.
The study looked at 65 women; 32 who had tension-type headaches as according to the International Headache Society System and 33 who were used as a control who felt minimal pain. Overall it reported that the connection between day time naps to cope with pain and insomnia is important to look at for developing behavioral sleep interventions.
Lead investigator and assistant professor of behavioral sciences at Rush University Medical Center, Jason C. Ong, Ph.D, said, “Insomnia is a common complaint among headache sufferers. While napping may relieve pain, it may also result in poor sleep hygiene, thus triggering sleep disturbance or perpetuating an insomnia episode,” said Ong.

So, have you ever napped to get rid of a headache? Did you have a hard time falling asleep at night?

Ever feeling down and a nap just isn't cutting it?
I encourage you all to visit my friend's site: My Day's Been! It's a motivational site where people can share their day's stories and comment on other stories offering words of advice. If you don't feel like posting anything specific, you can just say whether or not your day was bad by clicking "raise".
I know this isn't really about napping but the site can still be helpful! Even if you're having a good day, you can pay it forward and make other people smile.
Take a gander and see if you like it; it may be just what you need to give your thoughts a nap :)

Book or Pillow? Both!
Napping at work just got so much easier! You can trick anyone into thinking you dozed off doing some research.. when really, you just used this book-pillow to catch a few minutes of shut eye.
The downside, it runs about $102. But if you take napping at work seriously, I'm sure the price is not too bad.
Would you buy/use this book-pillow?

Pzizz - "A bubble bath for your brain"
Feeling drained and looking for more than just a nap to get energized? Try this!
Pzizz, originally released as desktop application and now available for mobile devices, releases frequencies to help induce sleep. You simply need to find a quiet place, choose how long you want to nap for, play the track and shut your eyes! The app is about $6 dollar in iTunes (which is up there for app prices), but the offer of naturally feeling more relaxed is worth the small price.
Would you be willing to try this? And if you do, share your testimonials below!

As if Google could get any cooler..
Why ever go home when your employer offers something special for you to nap in? Google has taken napping at work above and beyond by providing their employees with this nifty napping device:
Created by MetroNap EnergyPod, occupants of this device are "reclined into the optimal napping position to promote blood circulation and reduce pressure on the lower back." This device even plays soothing "ambient sounds" to help the napper fall asleep faster. On top of those benefits, this energy pod just looks cool. I'd have to say I think Google employees are very lucky to catch a quick nap in this!
So, who wants to quit their job and start working at Google? ME!
